Thursday last, the 7th of September, Abcon Industrial Products Ltd. was overjoyed to join a selection of successful local businesses, representing Cootehill in the community’s bid for the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Award. The Bank of Ireland judging panel: Tom Hayes, Eddie Breen and Tim O’Neill commenced their visit with a tour of the town and local businesses.
Following the tour, a showcase of all supporting businesses and community groups respective products and service demonstrated at Cootehill’s ultra-modern Technology & Enterprise Centre for the panel. Both Abcon and CavMac had exhibitions at the event, in which the judges were keenly interested. One judge almost had to be dragged away from our indoor stall by the rest of the panel, as he became enthralled in the specifics of our range of abrasives and FinishLine products.
Businesses ranged from Whelan Shoes, presenting there range of Irish dancing footwear, to the incredible BossLift boasting their impressive Liebherr LTC1050, 50t Compact crane with a max height of 49 metres and Volkswagen Beetle fitted with a crane boom of its own.
Now we all patiently wait for the results announcement in November. The Overall Enterprise Town winner will receive a bursary of €23,000 from Bank of Ireland, along with a trophy and the prestigious title of Ireland’s Most Enterprising Town. It’s safe to say we’re all hoping for a Cootehill win.
