In 2014 Abcon was acknowledged for its contribution to enterprise and innovation by President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin.

Abcon was founded in 2005 by Barry Smith, Paul Gilsenan and Sean Daly, and we grew from a staff of eight to one hundred and fifty in fifteen years. Initially, we were based in Belturbet, but later moved to Cootehill (still in County Cavan) to facilitate our growing business.

Through that time, we have constantly innovated and listened to our customers in order to maintain growth during the downturn and to ensure growth into the future. An example of this is the development of our FinishLine brand of Automotive Body Repair products. For our domestic market, we have expanded the range of tools, accessories that we source and are proud agents for excellent brands such as Pferd, ATA, Suhner, Dynabrade, Rupes and many more…

We remain the only Abrasive Belt and Disc Manufacturer in Ireland and serve a growing global market with our manufactured products, which we often supply under private label.
